Since moving to Toronto, the best part of summer is getting outside. Our days are usually filled with trips to the playground, our near by amusement park, riding our scooters around the neighborhood, or taking a fun road trip, but even in the summer, there are days we are stuck inside. Sometimes we spend those rainy days cuddled on the couch, watching a movie and eating junk food, but another fun rainy day activity we enjoy is visiting our local mall.
A few days ago we decided to check out Erin Mills Town Centre for a fun lunch, some light shopping, and a place to get away from the rain. It was such a great way to spend the afternoon! Erin Mills is currently remodeling and their new food court looked amazing. There were so many choices and the kids just loved being able to choose whatever they wanted to eat. Carter picked Subway or “Subways” as she calls it and Monroe picked pizza from Sbarro. I decided on some amazing noodles and a veggie spring roll from a Chinese restaurant.
After lunch, I let the kids pick out a toy from the mall’s toy store. Monroe quickly found a stuffed Spider-Man and Captain America that he just had to have, but Carter didn’t see anything she really loved so we decided to check out another store. Amazingly, Erin Mills has a Wal-Mart and the Erin Mills Town Centre gift card I had to spend works at all stores and restaurants in the mall, including Wal-Mart. Carter was able to find the bubble gun she has been begging me for and spent the rest of the day happy as a clam.
Of course, no trip to the mall is complete without a treat, so we grabbed some Dairy Queen before we headed back home. It might seem silly, but as a mom, these are the days I really love. There is nothing special about a trip to the mall, but seeing my kids excited to pick out their lunch or pick out a small gift for being awesome kids is everything to me. Thanks, Erin Mills Town Centre , for a fun day out and putting a smile on my kiddos’ faces.
Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose.
