We made it! We made it through our second winter. We made it through the frost, and the snow and, the winter coats, and the snow boots. I know as far as winter goes here in Toronto, this one was pretty mild but honestly, any winter is too much winter for me. We survived it all. And our reward for our survival? Swimming in April!
(Okay, I know as far as winter goes here in Toronto, this one was pretty mild, but honestly, any winter at all is too much winter for me.)
This past weekend we were invited to a friends house for swimming and barbecuing. It was so nice to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. It was only about 72 degrees outside but they had their pool heated to a nice 80 degrees so the kids were in heaven. We ate dinner outside next to the pool while the kids used their seemingly endless amounts of energy to jump off the diving board over and over again. I think they swam for a good three hours before we forced them out so we could all head home.
Today was such a good reminder of so many things. It was a reminder that summer is just around the corner and we will get our fill of vitamin D soon enough. It was a reminder of how excited I am to get the kids outside, exercising and exploring the world around them. It was also a really great reminder of the friendships we have built here in Toronto in the short time that we have lived here. It is such an honor to be invited to someones home on the first nice weekend of the year.
Just last weekend snow was still falling from the sky and my home sickness was sky rocketing but this weekend the kids were in their swim suits. The weather works in mysterious way here in Toronto but I will be thankful for every nice day we are given! I don’t know if I will ever stop missing San Diego, but my heart mends just a little bit more when the sun is shining.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
